First Minister’s Reading Challenge (Scotland)

The First Minister’s Reading Challenge is for Primary 4–7 pupils and focuses on reading for pleasure and building reading cultures in schools, homes and communities across Scotland. Launched in 2016 by Scottish Book Trust and the Scottish Government, the First Minister’s Reading Challenge has been taken up by over 70% of primary schools in its first year.

The First Minister’s Reading Challenge aims to build on the work already taking place in schools across the country to encourage children to read widely, explore a range of books and develop a love of reading. The main focus of the Challenge is to encourage reading for pleasure and support schools, libraries and communities to build reading cultures.

This project is run by Scottish Book Trust (Scotland)
