Will we read more or less? Will our children be better or worse at reading? Why is reading important? Does reading make one a better person? What is the impact of digital media on reading? Academics carry out considerable amounts of research into these—and other—questions. It is not seldom that their findings remain within the walls of academia. The Reading Monitor (Lesemonitor) strives to make available knowledge accessible to a broad public. The research is summarised in Dutch and described in relation to other research.
The Reading Monitor is an initiative of Stichting Lezen (Foundation for the Promotion of Reading), the knowledge centre and centre of expertise for promoting reading and for literature education.
